      <image:title>Auftaktveranstaltung - Auftaktsveranstaltung!</image:title>
Assembly: Elena Marti (Co-Präsidentin Äms Fäscht), Simone Brander (Gemeinderätin Stadt Zürich) und Bence Komlosi (Architecture for Refugees)</image:caption>

<image:caption>Powerful universities in unequal cities have a long history of extractive modes of research. They are also often agents of gentrification. <image:caption>Urban infrastructure transitions bring profound opportunities for vulnerable groups worldwide but are frequently delivered in ways that reproduce and entrench socio-economic and political inequalities. Drawing from the examples of public housing and networked services for the poor, and the post-networked infrastructure transitions of urban elites (e.g. solar panels, water boreholes, water tanks) in South Africa, Charlotte Lemanski uses the language of infrastructural citizenship to reveal how material infrastructure mediates civic identities and relationships. Based on empirical research on poverty and housing in Switzerland, Peter Streckeisen's discusses the necessity of overcoming the gap between energy policy, social policy, and housing policy. In this two-part talk, the speakers will discuss housing, infrastructure, and the implications the concept of infrastructural citizenship has for the energy transition at home and abroad. The event is taking place in English on Monday, 24 October 2022, at 17.30 at the ETH Hönggerberg Campus HIL Building, Room HIL E 6. Lecture: Charlotte Lemanski (University of Cambridge), Peter Streckeisen (ZHAW) Moderation: Lindsay Howe (Uni Liechtenstein)</image:caption>

Debatte: Anna Schindler (Direktorin Stadtentwicklung Stadt Zürich), Max Walter (Gemeinderat Regensdorf), Beat Schwab (Terresta) und Mieter*innenbewegung (Mieten-Marta) Moderation: Philippe Koch (ZHAW)</image:caption>

<image:title>Who Cares - Who cares? Sorgearbeit in Zeiten globaler Urbanisierung</image:title>

Debatte: Brigit Wehrli-Schindler (ehem. Direktorin Stadtentwicklung Zürich), Ursula Wyss (ehem. Gemeinderätin Stadt Bern), Philippe Koch (Dozent ZHAW) Moderation: Hanna Hilbrandt (UZH)</image:caption>

<image:caption>How do we deal with the polycrises cities and regions are facing today? After an introduction by Prof. Hanna Hilbrandt, Thireshen Govender will present his perspectives on the strategies of infrastructure provision in the context of extreme volatility. Based on his empirical research in South Africa, he will reflect on what design practitioners can do to create, despite the perpetual crisis situations we must grapple with. Prof. Dr. Catalina Ortiz and Dr. Katrin Hofer will respond to this stance, drawing from their own research and perspectives spanning between Europe and the sites in the Global South. Following this, we will collect questions and comments from the audience, and engage in a discussion moderated by Prof. Lindsay Blair Howe. The event is taking place in English on Wednesday, 11. December 2024, at 17:30 at the ETH Hönggerberg Campus HIL Building, Room E9 (Stefano-Franscini-Platz 5, 8093 Zürich). Lecture: Thireshen Govender (UrbanWorks), Catalina Ortiz (UCL), Katrin Hofer (ETHZ) Moderation: Lindsay Blair Howe (LSA, Uni Li)</image:caption>
